the idea
What started as a birthday party theme soon evolved into an event that follows the format of ll cool j’s lip sync battle . . . but hosted nyc-style by me, brooklyn’s ll
the execution
hosted and produced by yours truly — having the idea was the easy part, making it real was the challenge: from securing a space, to finding the funds, to filling out a guest list
leveraging the partiful app, social media postings, and word of mouth promotion, i not only pulled off a packed party, but i was also able to repeat the process as an annual event
the why
unless you’re a celebrity on LL Cool J’s show, or an iconic drag performer on stage, finding a spot to lip sync with your friends isn’t exactly easy — we all know a place for karoke, but not for lip syncing, so, i made one
